Edward Clare, the Prime Minister of a highly fanciful England, wants to get closer to the people, so he goes out in disguise--his nutty wife`s clothes--along with his bodyguard, Jack Sprat. As he makes his way through London, hobnobbing with the common folk, his wife is arranging a funeral for their housekeeper`s son`s leg, which was torn off in an accident. Then Edward has a heart attack and lands in the hospital and, by a wackily logical series of events, the psychiatric ward. This humorous novel is by Sue Townsend, creator of the ADRIAN MOLE series.
